I commonly come across links and ideas during the day that I would like come back and review later. However I have never had a good solution where to keep all of these things. I have text file after text file of links, some information in email, OmniOutliner, Tomboy Notes, del.icio.us and even in a little web application I threw together myself. Needless to say this is very disorganized.

In the past I have thought about using things like Tumblr or Twitter, but I never liked the idea that all my information was kept in a silo where I could never move it if I needed to.

However quite recently a new microblogging platform came out that is Open Source, which removes many of the concerns I had about keeping control of my own information. The software is called Laconica and the service is called Identi.ca. I am going to try and use this to post links and stuff of the things I am reading and so forth.
